Mariah Carey’s Hollywood star inked by vandal

HOLLYWOOD — An investigation was underway today to determine who vandalized Mariah Carey’s star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.The vandalism was reported to police on Sunday night, after it was learned that someone on Instagram was claiming responsibility for the action, said Ana Martinez of the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce.The vandalism consisted of a question mark written on the star after the singer’s name, Martinez said.

TMZ reported the story today.Los Angeles police Officer Tony Im said investigators were reviewing security video in an effort to identify whoever vandalized the star.Carey was in the news recently after her performance on “Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve With Ryan Seacrest” went awry due to equipment difficulties. During most of her performance, Carey didn’t sing and instead complained about the technical issues. Her voice could be heard on prerecorded backing tracks.
